According to a report by the New York Post, Dick Clark Productions, the producer of the Golden Globes is looking to jump on the EDM bandwagon “the producer of the Golden Globes is looking to cash in on rising ratings and advertiser demand for TiVo-proof TV events with a first-of-its-kind awards show to celebrate vinyl-spinning DJs”.
Dick Clark Production, who since being acquired last year by investment firm Guggenheim Partners has hit record ratings in its other award shows, the American Music Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards. The production company is now looking to expand and capitalize on the booming EDM community. The New York Post reports that Dick Clark Productions is currently on the hunt for a TV network to pick up the awards show.
Dick Clark CEO Allen Shapiro declined to comment on the plans but did say, “They [marketers] want to be associated with live events, with a young audience and that interests us as well”.
